性格Geng Shen personality
Geng Shen is metal on metal, strong, sharp and unpolished. These people are decisive, just and straightforward, quick to act and quick to speak. They respect strength and honesty. Their bluntness can wound; a little diplomacy makes their natural authority much easier to accept.
坐星Sitting on Companion (Friend)
You sit on your own element: self-reliant, sure of your own path, happiest with equals rather than bosses. The flip side is reluctance to compromise.
长生Life stage: Prosperity (Lu)
Measured on the 12-phase cycle, 庚 on 申 is at Prosperity (Lu): standing on your own feet: capable, self-made, hard-working.
纳音Nayin: Pomegranate Wood
Each pair of pillars shares one of 30 Nayin, or "sound" elements. Geng Shen belongs to Pomegranate Wood, pictured as the pomegranate tree: many seeds, late but rich fruit. Nayin is an older layer of Chinese astrology and is read as a background image, not as your Day Master's element.

In BaZi the day branch is the spouse palace. For Geng Shen it holds the Monkey, which traditionally harmonises with the Snake (six harmony) and the Rat and Dragon (three harmony), and clashes with the Tiger.
The most harmonious day pillar for Geng Shen is Yi Si (乙巳): its stem combines with yours and its branch forms a six-harmony pair (天合地合). The most challenging are Jia Yin (甲寅) and Bing Yin (丙寅): stem against stem and branch against branch (天克地冲). Other pillars in your chart matter more than this single pairing.
空亡Void branches
Geng Shen belongs to the Jia Yin (甲寅) decade (旬), whose void branches are Zi and Chou (子丑: Rat, Ox). Traditionally, years and months of these branches are said to make plans feel less solid. The next such years: 2032, 2033, 2044, 2045.
