- Day Master. The Heavenly Stem of your birth day, one of Jia, Yi, Bing, Ding, Wu, Ji, Geng, Xin, Ren or Gui. What is my Day Master?
- Support. Every stem and hidden stem in your four pillars is counted, with the month counted double because the season matters most.
- Strength. If your own element plus the element that feeds you make up half or more of the chart, your Day Master is strong; otherwise it is gentle.

What are the BaZi personality types?
They are 20 types built from the two most important factors in a BaZi (Four Pillars) chart: your Day Master, one of ten Heavenly Stems such as Jia Wood or Ding Fire, and whether that Day Master is strong or gentle in your chart. For example, a strong Jia Wood is The Oak and a gentle Jia Wood is The Sapling.
How do I find my BaZi type?

Is a strong Day Master better than a weak one?
No. Strong and gentle describe different strategies, not better or worse luck. Strong types thrive by giving, building and leading; gentle types thrive with support, learning and good teams.
How is this different from my Chinese zodiac animal?
Your animal comes from your birth year and is shared by everyone born that year. Your Day Master comes from your birth day, and your type also depends on the whole chart, so it is far more personal.
Is this like MBTI?
It plays a similar role, a memorable personality label, but it comes from classical Chinese astrology rather than psychology. It is for entertainment and self-reflection.
